Tanzania, Southern corridor - Ruaha
RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
- Gets name from indigenous language "Ruvaha" in Hehe meaning the area of "Big River".
- Ruaha is second largest National Park in Tanzania after Serengeti. It is home to wildebeests, crocodiles, hippos, wild dogs and clawless otters that soak and play in the water and the banks of Great Ruaha River. Reedbuck, waterbuck and buffalo, Impalas, Kudu drink along its banks watching for lions, jackals, hyenas and hunting dogs.
- Other animals found here are zebras, dik diks, eland, warthogs, mongooses, wildcat, porcupine and cats.
